Hazardous Waste Management

This course is designed for employees that have responsibility for regulatory compliance, transportation management, receiving/loading dock operations, purchasing or safety of hazardous materials and substances. The workshop provides the basic information requirements outlined in the USDOT Hazardous Material Regulations (49 CFR 171-180).

• Key elements of both the Hazardous Material Transportation Act (HMTA) and the Hazardous Materials Transportation Uniform Safety Act of 1990 (HMTUSA)
• Select proper shipping name, class, packaging group, labeling requirements using the Hazardous Materials Table (HMT)
•  Hazardous materials Shipping Papers as it relates to hazardous materials (or substances) and describe the information that must be included on them.
•  Marking & labeling hazardous material packages, freight containers and/or transportation vehicles and any exception to these requirements.
• Identify the requirements for placarding and any modifications allowed
• Explain the key elements of HM-181 “Performance Oriented Packaging”
• Select proper markings, labels, and placards for hazardous substances for USDOT Classes 1 thru 9
•  Hazardous Material Regulations (HMR) security program requirements
